The project consisted of the strip out and refurbishment of an existing three storey building and the construction of two additional wings to create a modern, functional, secure and sensitive psychiatric unit for the St George Hospital.

The building contained individual patient rooms, indoor and outdoor common areas, nursing stations, reception, admission and interview rooms for both and Acute and Non-Acute psychiatric environment. In addition new administration facilities and offices were provided for resident and visiting staff and professionals.

All works were undertaken entirely within the grounds of the St George Public Hospital and directly adjacent to the St George Private Hospital both of which continued to operate unimpeded throughout the construction period.
